Bolt on the Bay 5K: First Inaugural Run Raises Over $200,000 for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals!

The energy was electric at the inaugural Bolt on the Bay 5K, held Saturday, September 20th, at China Basin Park in San Francisco. Runners, walkers, and hospital supporters came together for a morning of movement, community, and compassion — all to support the patients and families of UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals.

What began as a casual waterfront stroll turned into something extraordinary: together, we raised over $200,000 to advance life-changing care and research for children across the Bay Area and beyond.

A huge thank-you goes out to our Presenting Sponsor, Marriott International, for their outstanding support and commitment. Marriott’s 13 local hotel teams went above and beyond, contributing more than $35,000 and showing what teamwork can accomplish. We’re also deeply grateful to our event sponsors, Swinerton, Eureka Therapeutics, Inc, and Encore Global, for helping make this day possible.

Shoutout to our top fundraising teams, whose dedication and generosity helped make this event such a success:

  • 🏆 GI For Life – $49,106
  • Strides Towards the Cure – $25,545
  • Bolts of Hope: Racing for Cures and Brighter Futures for Kids with Brain Tumors – $22,581

Every step taken at Bolt on the Bay helped bring hope, healing, and brighter futures to the children we serve.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, or cheered from the sidelines. Your support made our first-ever Bolt on the Bay 5K a day to remember — and we can’t wait to see you next year!
