David was not prepared for a positive experience when his one-year-old daughter was suddenly admitted to Children’s National Medical Center, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in Washington, D.C.

“From the moment we arrived to the day she was discharged, I was amazed by the level of care, treatment, and professionalism of the doctors and nurses for not just my daughter, but all the children there,” David said. “We watched the nurses and staff care, love, sing and dance with each child as if they were their own.”

His daughter, McKenzie, was admitted to Children’s National for pediatric burn trauma. Despite 2nd and 3rd-degree burns from her chin to her belly, McKenzie made a full recovery and is now a happy and healthy 4-year-old.

David is a general manager at Baywood Hotels, a hotel management company which manages 14 Marriott hotels in its portfolio. As Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ longest-standing partner, Marriott International and its hotel brands have helped raise more than $110 million dollars for 170 children’s hospitals across the U.S. and Canada.

The excellent care David’s daughter experienced at Children’s National would not have been possible without the generous support of individual donors and companies like Marriott and Baywood Hotels. Children’s hospitals rely on donations to provide cutting-edge care and treatment for sick children. Thanks in part to these donations, Children’s National has consistently been named to U.S. News & World Report’s annual “Best Hospitals” list.

“I don’t think my daughter remembers her time at Children’s National, but my wife and I will never forget those nine days and nights.”
