Celebrating Better Days Ahead

Since 1983, Marriott International has been serving up miracles for kids and their families who receive care at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, including Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center.

Associates and guests raise these funds through various events, including Root Beer Float Week! Why root beer floats? Great question! Marriott started as a root beer float stand that JW and Alice Marriott opened in 1927. These then turned into Hot Shoppes, and eventually they opened the Marriott hotels that we know and love today!

For the last few years, our friends at Bangor’s Courtyard by Marriott and the Marriott TownePlace Suites have teamed up to celebrate their hotel’s roots and the organization’s commitment to making sure all kids have access to the very best healthcare available, close to home. 2020 has been a tough year, and locally the hospitality industry was among the hardest hit during these unprecedented times. Slowly, hotels, restaurants and other businesses are reopening, and the staff at these two Marriott, fueled by their passion to give back, want to do what they can to help kids receiving care locally.

Rather than hosting an in-person event, and to ensure everyone’s health and safety, Root Beer Float Week 2020 is now virtual. If you’re interested in raising a mug to Marriott and helping to support their virtual fundraiser and all the better days ahead, please click here.

Thank you, Marriott!
